Bergenia ‘Jelle’ is a tough, evergreen groundcover forming bold clumps of rounded, leathery leaves that give reliable year-round structure. In spring it produces upright stems carrying flowers, making a useful, low-maintenance choice for front-of-border edging, path sides and rockery settings. It thrives in Irish gardens in full sun to shade on moderately fertile, moist but well‑drained soil, and is noted for coping with dry shade once established. Fully hardy and of average growth, it’s an easy, long-lived perennial for dependable texture and seasonal interest.
