Ilex crenata Jenny 20 BALL CM C2

Ilex crenata Jenny 20 BALL CM C2

Ilex crenata 'Jenny' is a compact, slow-growing evergreen Japanese holly with very small, glossy, dark green leaves that clip beautifully into neat balls and low hedges. An excellent box (Buxus) alternative for formal topiary, it keeps a dense, fine texture all year. Tiny white flowers appear in late spring and, on female plants with a suitable male nearby, may be followed by small black berries. Grow in full sun or light shade in moist, well-drained, moderately fertile, humus-rich neutral to acidic soil; avoid chalky ground where foliage can yellow. Responds well to regular clipping to maintain a crisp, rounded shape.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
